In September and October 2009, Sprint announced several initiatives that represent an increased focus on M2M technology. First, the company made known an agreement with M2M DataSmart — a newly formed M2M MVNO — to facilitate application development for joint Sprint/M2M DataSmart customers. In October, Sprint revealed a new Emerging Solutions business unit dedicated to the M2M market opportunity. Finally, the company announced an agreement with Numerex, an M2M mobile operator, to resell CDMA data networking capacity to Numerex.
