Several aspects of computers impact the environment, directly and indirectly. Computers consume electricity and generate heat, and they require even more energy to cool them so they can continue operating. While I wouldn’t go so far as to blame PCs for global warming (not directly, anyway), it’s clear that computers don’t need to be on all the time, sucking power from the grid and blowing heat into the environment.
