The Green Revolution started in 1945, in the wake of World War II, as governments worldwide came to understand they were facing a global population explosion, and food supplies were not expected to keep pace with population growth. The aim of the Green Revolution was to transform agriculture so food production could keep pace with the burgeoning population.
