Light at the End of the Tunnel? The US Economy and Consumer Technology Purchases: 2008 vs. 2009

In the fall of 2008, the state of the US economy was pretty disheartening. The jobless rate was higher than it had been in fourteen years. Housing prices were steadily sliding, and the condition of the stock market was more than a little disconcerting. Fast forward several months to the summer of 2009 and the situation isn’t much different. However, there does appear to be a light at the end of the tunnel, as the general consensus among economic pundits is that the recession will end sometime in the upcoming second half of 2009. How, if at all, will this optimistic outlook impact the purchase of consumer technology products? Are consumers any more confident now than they were several months ago?
