Clear Spot Router Bridges the Device Gap Via Wi-Fi

In March, Clearwire announced its battery-powered CLEAR Spot portable router, which is available for $139 and made by CradlePoint. Customers can just plug in their WiMAX USB modem into the router to essentially form a WiMAX/Wi-Fi gateway. This allows the customer to use any Wi-Fi-enabled device with the router. While 3G/Wi-Fi routers – both line-powered and battery-powered portable types – already exist, they have been positioned more with PCs. The big difference is in the way Clearwire has been marketing CLEAR Spot, which Verizon Wireless and Sprint have also been marketing Novatel’s MiFi 3G/Wi-Fi router subsequently.
