While the wireless video market is still nascent, momentum will grow in the coming years as new technologies and applications come to market. Most applications currently serve wireless display applications via adapters: e.g. PC to TV and HDMI replacement. Over time the market could further expand into docking stations, computing products, mobile devices, and consumer electronics. In the past the development of wireless networking technologies usually started in the computing devices, moving to mobile and ultimately consumer electronics. With this group of technologies, however, the migration and transition to other markets is expected to occur at a more accelerated rate. There are however many factors to consider with each respective technology, including: range, data rate, region/country approval of frequencies, and interoperability. For this reason hybrid products are expected to play a significant role in the development of this market; standard Wi-Fi will therefore remain an integral piece of the networking solution.

This study covers the key wireless technologies targeting this facet of the greater networking market: 60 GHz (Wireless HD and WiGig), WHDI, 802.11n, 802.11ac, and UWB. The report also provides forecasts by device type (computing, mobile, and consumer electronics) and the key target regions (North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific).
