2007: The Year of GPS IC Vendor Acquisitions

In 2007, larger wireless semiconductor vendors acquired a large portion of the individual Global Positioning System (GPS) IC manufacturers. The goal for the connectivity enablers that purchased a GPS company was to include GPS functionality in all of the standard product offerings.
