Wireless Handset Companies Renew Focus on Revenue Opportunities in Intellectual Property

The opportunity to build a successful business in the wireless space naturally places emphasis on the value of the equipment offering a company can generate. However, a strong and vociferously defended intellectual property (IP) position can form a complementary part of a holistic equipment offering, and it may prove to be a very sizeable profit center. A growing realization from the industry that IP portfolios are a vastly undervalued commodity and that IP theft is the most significant area in which corporations are hemorrhaging revenue, has resulted in a slew of litigation and also a shift in attitude about IP and its role.
