Success for Android Has Little to Do With User Acceptance

Will Android become the ubiquitous mobile phone platform that Google and the Open Handset Alliance hope? If that happens, it will be because operators and handset OEMs recognize the value of using standard platforms over their own business models, not because wireless subscribers clamor for feature-rich phones, or even more far-fetched — an Android-based phone.
