Qualcomm's attempts to protect its CDMA interests may have convinced some in the industry that it is dead-set against WiMAX, but today, more than ever, that is not an accurate assessment. Clear evidence to the contrary is its purchase of the mobile WiMAX (802.16e) portion of TeleCIS Wireless. Actually, Qualcomm has been slowly embracing WiMAX -- but for reasons beyond just WiMAX itself.
