Bye Bye Linksys? Will Cisco Kill the Linksys Name?

Recent press reports have renewed momentum for the belief that Cisco will eventually replace the Linksys brand name with Cisco. Despite Cisco’s repeated denials over the last few years that it would not kill the name, in July 2007, John Chambers said that Linksys would eventually be folded under the Cisco brand and, more recently, the IDG News Service quoted the SMB solutions marketing manager for Cisco as saying the move to one brand “will be shorter than you think.” Will Cisco eventually move away from the Linksys brand? And, why the change in strategy?
