Sprint and Clearwire Break Up

Today, Sprint and Clearwire announced that they are terminating the agreement they had to build out a mobile WiMAX network together. Add this to the pressure Sprint is facing from the financial community around its WiMAX buildout and the fact that it is looking for a new CEO, and things can look fairly bad for Sprint and WiMAX.
Clearwire cited that they had issues that they could not work out with Sprint, and that the agreement had stopped Clearwire from forming agreements with other companies. One thing that was not discussed was what would happen with the agreement between Clearwire and DirecTV and how Sprint was assuming control over that relationship.
The two companies are, however, still in discussions. No matter what, mobile WiMAX will move forward here - it just may be in the form of a spun off company.
There is definitely more to this. Craig McCaw has something up his sleeve.
